Founded in 1977, CIGNA is a large insurer worldwide. They specialize in health, life, and disability insurance as well as providing case management for worker’s compensation claims.
The origins of CIGNA go all the way back to the great Chicago fire. The ancestor of CIGNA, known as the Insurance Company of North America, was the only insurer to pay 100 percent of all claims out of more than 50 insurers involved.
Today, CIGNA operates in over 30 countries making it a truly global operation. CIGNA’s current headquarters are in Wilmington, Delaware, just outside of Philadelphia.
