Medicare Supplement Plan G is a good option if you are looking for a plan similar to Medicare Supplement Plan F. The only difference between the plans is that unlike Plan F, Plan G does not cover the Medicare Part B deductible.
Along with Supplement Plan F, Colorado Supplement Plan G is one of only two Supplement Plans that covers 100% of Part B excess charges. When comparing Supplement Plans, make sure to look at the cost difference per year of the Part B deductible.
Medicare Supplement Plan G includes the following benefits:
- Medicare Part A coinsurance for hospitalization in addition to coverage for one additional year after Medicare benefits end
- Medicare Part B coinsurance for medical expenses — usually 20% of Medicare-approved expenses — or co-payments for outpatient services
- The first three pints of blood you receive as a hospital inpatient or outpatient (whereas original Medicare typically covers any pints of blood you receive after the first three)
